A Place to Call Home...
“We live in an age when unnecessary things are our only necessity” - Oscar Wilde.
In today’s condition of technological advances, it is much easier to get distracted. Our attention span cannot support the ability to learn and grow in our craft. Each day launches another app to download, another show to watch, another place to be, another child to bear and more gossip to hear. Although the apps we download and the shows we watch may be different, the one thing we all have in common is the pursuit of entertainment.
Entertainment these days have become a necessity. The caveman and cavewoman had fire, the ancient Romans had the Coliseum, the Irish have alcohol and fighting. No matter what the case is, “We live in an age when unnecessary things are our only necessity” as quoted by Oscar Wilde.
The most important and the most expensive necessity, however, is our living. Unfortunately, having a roof over our heads and calling it home is a luxury these days. Renting may make sense today but let’s not forget about our future. The future means owning our own rooves, watching our shows and using our apps in the comforts of our homes. The homes that continually gains value and equity and a place we can really call our own because we own them. In my opinion, the reward of home ownership far outweighs the risk.
As Louis Baca once told me, “The only thing keeping you from purchasing a home is paperwork.” So don’t let paperwork hold you back from purchasing a home. As an adult myself, I can tell you that purchasing my house was one of the smartest things I’ve ever done. Right up there with marrying my beautiful wife and buying a Temperpedic mattress. Bottom line is that it’s never too late to make a great decision. Home ownership is a great decision.
